Thesis Writing Camp: A First Edition in Review
Ibn Haldun University held its first Thesis Writing Camp at the Ibn Haldun University Language Village in Yalova.

Ibn Haldun University's School of Graduate Studies held its inaugural Thesis Writing Camp at the Yalova School of Languages from 14 to 21 June 2026. Graduate students from different departments spent eight days working together to advance their theses and academic articles.

A week of focused writing, measurable outcomes

At the heart of the camp were structured deep-writing blocks, supported by a daily goal-setting and end-of-day reflection cycle. Participants worked on chapters spanning methodology, theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, and findings — making measurable progress throughout the week.

Alongside the writing sessions, participants attended academic workshops on thesis formatting, building a theoretical framework, and developing a research question and argument, as well as seminars on academic publishing and indexed journal submission. Psychological support sessions, delivered in collaboration with İPAM (Ibn Haldun University Psychology Research and Application Centre), addressed the emotional dimensions of the thesis-writing process.

The camp was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Arzu Ünal, with academic and administrative support provided throughout by SGS specialists Nihal Gülcan and Halit Topçu. We extend our thanks to Asst. Prof. Güldeniz Kıbrıs Atabay, Asst. Prof. Ebubekir Düzcan — Editor-in-Chief of Sociology Lens (SSCI Q1) —, Asst. Prof. Adem Yurdunkulu, and İPAM Clinical Psychologist Havva Kahraman for their contributions.
