Academic Grant Processes and Field Research Experiences Seminar was held
The first seminar of the Institute of Graduate Studies for the academic year 2023-2024 was held on October 10, 2023 at Şaban Teoman Duralı Hall

In the seminar titled "Academic Grant Processes and Field Research Experiences" presented by Dr. H. İbrahim Alegöz from the Department of Political Science and International Relations of Ibn Haldun University and Dr. Rıza T. Kalyoncu from the Department of Philosophy, the 2214-A Overseas Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program and other grant opportunities were discussed.

The Institute of Graduate Studies Seminars will continue throughout the year with similar programs that will contribute to the academic and professional careers of our students enrolled in Ibn Haldun University’s graduate programs.

Short bios:

H. İbrahim Alegöz successfully completed his Ph.D. on "Foreign Intervention, Political Violence and Radicalization: Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen in Somalia". His master's thesis at FSM Vakif University focused on Turkey's humanitarian diplomacy policy towards Somalia. During his graduate studies, he worked in many African countries including Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, South Africa, Cameroon, Burundi, South Africa, Cameroon, and Burundi. As part of his doctoral research, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota for 12 months. His research interests include political violence, terrorism, foreign intervention, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and Africa in Turkish foreign policy.

Rıza T. Kalyoncu graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 2012 with a semester at Radboud University, Faculty of Theology. He worked as a research assistant at Dokuz Eylül University for 4 years. In 2015, he defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Ibn Khaldun's Theory of Interpretation.” He conducted research at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Freiburg. Between 2022-2023, he conducted research on al-Fārābī Philosophy under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Frank Griffel at Yale University within the financial support of TÜBİTAK 2214-A doctoral fellowship program. He is currently working at the Department of Philosophy at Ibn Haldun University.
