Ibn Haldun University 2023-2024 Academic Year Doctoral Dissertation of the Year Award was presented at the 6th Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 29th. Private Law PhD Program student Meryem Solmaz Bilici won the PhD Dissertation of the Year Award with her thesis titled "The Legal Liability of the Bank Arising from the Deposit Contract," prepared under the supervision of Prof. Ömer Çınar.
In her thesis, Solmaz Bilici examines the "deposit agreement," which covers the banking transactions related to banks' storing and returning the money belonging to depositors and analyzes the obligations of banks in this context. The study, selected as the PhD Thesis of the Year, provides a comparative analysis between traditional banking and digital banking practices while explaining the legal responsibilities of banks arising from the deposit agreement.
The Doctoral Dissertation of the Year Award was presented to Dr. Meryem Solmaz Bilici at the 6th Graduation Ceremony of Ibn Haldun University, which was dedicated to Gaza, by Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, Rector of Glasgow University, who attended the ceremony as the guest of honor, and Prof. Dr. Ömer Çınar, Member of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye.
