Students new to the Master's and Non-Thesis Master's, Doctorate, and Integrated Doctorate programs joined the university administration and faculty members at the School of Graduate Studies Orientation Program. Participants were informed about the functioning of graduate programs, academic, social, and sports facilities at Ibn Haldun Complex, and the university's support units.
The Orientation Program started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, Dean of the Graduate School. Kuçakcı started his speech by referring to the massacres committed by Israel in Palestine and Lebanon and said that the crises that Western civilization has put humanity into reveal more painful results every day and underlined the responsibilities of researchers in the field of social sciences in producing solutions to these crises.
Ibn Haldun University Rector, Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan, welcomed the new graduate students. It stated that every researcher today, regardless of discipline, should strive to recognize, understand, and use artificial intelligence in a qualified way. Drawing attention to the transformations in which every profession and every discipline is intertwined with artificial intelligence, Prof. Arkan emphasized that humanity is facing artificial intelligence as a new turning point after listing the breaking points that caused the development and transformations experienced by humankind throughout history.
Later in the orientation, Senior Specialist Halit Topçu shared the institute's organizational structure and the programs' functioning processes with the students on behalf of the School of Graduate Studies. İbrahim Ethem Erdoğdu from the Career Center took the floor and explained Ibn Haldun University's support to its students in shaping their academic and sectoral careers after graduation.
At the orientation, Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Dilşad Yakut, Deputy Director of the School of Graduate Studies, mentioned the professional experience opportunities that graduate education at Ibn Haldun University provides students. Yakut said that students are taking the first steps towards the profession of academics with duties such as Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships. Fatma Halide Kıvrak, Research Assistant and PhD Candidate at the Department of Business Administration, gave a speech titled "Being a Visiting Researcher Abroad" and talked about her experiences as a visiting researcher through the academic studies she carried out within the scope of her PhD study at the University of Exeter in the UK in the 2023-24 Academic Year.
The last part of the program witnessed exciting moments. Students who have just started graduate studies at Ibn Haldun University participated in the Kahoot! Contest, which tested how much they knew about the Graduate School during the orientation. The competition's winner was Samet Yurduseven from the Political Science and International Relations master's program, who received a 3.000 TL gift voucher. In contrast, the second-place winner, a Middle East Studies graduate student Buğrahan Şahin, received a 2.500 TL gift voucher, and the third-place winner, PhD. in Economics program student Shehzada Ghulam Abbas, received a 2.000 TL gift voucher.
