How is the Graduation Process Conducted?

According to the thesis writing guide of the Graduate School, 2 (two) printed copies of the thesis, which is completed per the form-conditions check, must be submitted to the Graduate School to be given to the University Library and the thesis advisor. The student can increase this number according to their request. The student must submit the following documents and the printed copies of the thesis.

  • Graduation Form
  • Thesis Center Access and Printing Approval Form
  • Your student ID card is to be submitted to the Student Affairs Office
  • Thesis Data Entry Form from YÖK Thesis Center

The points to be taken into consideration for graduation are stated below.

For non-thesis master's degree students:

The graduate courses that must be taken within the framework of the registered program must have a GPA of at least 2.50.

The non-thesis master's program consists of a minimum of ten courses, including the subjects on scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics, with a minimum of thirty credits and no less than sixty ECTS credits, and a term project course. The students must register for the semester in which they take the term project course and submit a written project and/or report at the end of the semester.

For master's students with a thesis:

The graduate courses that must be taken within the framework of the registered program must have a GPA of at least 3.00.

The thesis graduate program consists of a minimum of seven courses, one seminar course, and a thesis, on condition that the total credit is at least 21. One of the courses must include the subjects of scientific research methods and the ethics of research and publication. The thesis master’s program consists of a minimum of 120 ECTS in total, on condition that the total ECTS credit is not less than 60 for one academic year. The program comprises at least eight courses, including the seminar and thesis work.

For PhD students:

Students with a GPA of at least 3.00 in the doctoral courses required within the program framework they are enrolled in must also successfully complete the proficiency exam, thesis proposal, and thesis exam.

For students with a thesis master’s degree, the Ph.D. program consists of seven courses at least, of which the total credit load is not below 21. The program also includes a seminar, qualifying exam, thesis proposal, and thesis work. The credit load is at least 60 ECTS per academic year, with a minimum of 240 ECTS. For students admitted with an undergraduate degree, the program consists of fourteen courses of at least 42 credits, a seminar, a qualifying exam, a thesis proposal, and thesis work, with a minimum of 300 ECTS in total. One of the courses must include the subjects of scientific research methods and publication ethics.

For master's students with a thesis:

According to the Regulation on Graduate Education, “During the thesis studies, the student is required to make a presentation about his/her graduate studies at the Graduate Studies in Social, Human and Administrative Sciences Conference, organized by the University or at a scientific meeting held inside or outside the University. The student has to prove that to the Graduate School Directorate with a document.”

For PhD students:

According to the Regulation on Graduate Education, “During the thesis studies, the student is required to make a presentation about his/her graduate studies at the Graduate Studies in Social, Human and Administrative Sciences Conference, organized by the University or at a scientific meeting held inside or outside the University. The student has to prove that to the Graduate School Directorate with a document.”

According to the same regulation, “Before the thesis defense, the student who completed his doctoral thesis must submit at least one article, which has been produced alone or with other researchers from his/her thesis, using the name of the University, published, accepted, revised or resubmitted in journals scanned by Web of Science, or which has been published or accepted in a journal scanned by international field indices accepted by the Graduate School Board of Directors.”

You can meet the graduation requirement for languages by studying in the preparatory program before the program or by being successful in the language courses you will take.

If you are proficient in the required language level, you will fulfill the graduation obligation if you document the exam result accepted by the University.

In master's and/or doctoral programs where multilingualism is a graduation requirement, English and Turkish are compulsory, but you may take Arabic as a third language or a language other than Arabic, recommended by your advisor as an elective language required by your thesis work.
